I have been a mom for several years now and since then I have always wanted to give the best for my baby. I always see to it that I provide her all the things that she needs, especially when it comes to her health. They say Health is Wealth and I really believe in that. No matter what, the health of my family—from my husband, to my adorable daughter and of course, my own —will always be a top priority.
Speaking of health, I always make sure that I prepare and serve my family nutritious meals everyday. As for Keisha, I always incorporate two glasses of milk in her daily food intake on top of her well-balanced meal.
I thought all milks were generally the same in terms of the nutrition they provide until I attended a talk conducted by Dr. Agnes Calleja. Her presentation was entitled “ARE ALL MILKS THE SAME? MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE”. Through that presentation, I was able to realize that, indeed, not all milks available in the market are the same and at the same time, not all of them are suited for every child’s needs.
I learned that every child’s age group has its own specific needs and that there is a certain milk type that can cater to these particular needs of children.
Even though all kinds of milk formula contain macro and micronutrients, the amount of these nutrients may not be enough to boost our children’s immune system. For instance, kids during the early childhood years require probiotics and prebiotics. Probiotics are often referred to as live good bacteria and that they are necessary to enhance or boost the immune system of our children so as to minimize the incident of immune-related sickness. Prebiotics, on the other hand, are the “food” for the probiotics that help them proliferate or multiply so that the probiotics can be present in the gut in sufficient number and maintain the proper ratio between good and bad bacteria in the child’s digestive system.
I also became aware that the human brain grows about 3.5 times in mass from 0 to 5 years old; and for this reason, the children are learning new things easily because their brain absorbs these new information like how the sponge absorbs water, you get the picture, right? In order to support this brain grow, the children’s brain needs high amounts of fatty acids, such as, DHA, ALA and LA. These fatty acids are responsible in promoting appropriate development of brain structure, as well as, for normal cognitive functions.
With these information I have learned, I am now aware that it is best to give our children age-specific milk starting at 3 years old (because breast milk is still best for babies up to 2 years of age). Healthy meals, proper exercise and enough sleep are not just enough for the active lifestyle of these children, so it is really a must to feed them milk appropriate for their age. What our children’s body and brain needs plus more vitamins and minerals can be found in NIDO® 3+ and NIDO® 5+.
NIDO® 3+ and NIDO® 5+ come from the best of Nestlé Research™, and they are the only age-specific milk brands that contain Lactobacillus PROTECTUS®, which are millions of live good bacteria that help build our child’s immune system. NIDO® 3+ also contains a unique blend of natural fibers and nutrients called Prebio® 3, while NIDO® 5+ is enriched with CALCI-N® to help build healthy bones by providing better calcium absorption.
With all these nutrients, I am sure that your child will have a #LakingAmazing childhood just like my daughter, Keisha. To all the moms out there who are confused with what milk to serve their kids since there are too many milk products available in the market, I highly encourage for you to check the label and read carefully the nutrients present so as to make sure that you choose and serve the best milk product that will support the overall growth and development of your kids, especially during the crucial growing up years.
I hope this blog post enlightened and helped you choose the age-appropriate milk product for your little one that will give them a #LakingAmazing childhood. Always remember, basta Laking NIDO, Protektado!
