Admit it or not, most Filipinos are foodies at heart. We love to explore different culinary creations and dining experiences. This is why it is always exciting to learn about new restaurants that promise to satisfy our craving for culinary adventures. Well there’s no need to wait for a fresh foodie adventure as Akrotiri opens its doors to everyone. Last June 1, 2018, my blogger friends and I had a taste of what they have to offer at the Akrotiri VIP Blogger’s Night.
Dining out for me is not just about the food, it’s about the whole dining experience. This is perhaps why I really enjoyed the event. It proved to be an exciting gastronomic experience with Modern Eurasian Cuisine. Akrotiri General Manager David Jones summarizes the culinary concept that the restaurant embodies.
“We wanted to bring our knowledge to the Philippines and use all the incredible food that’s in the East and blended it with the West,”
“Akrotiri’s offerings reflect the Mediterranean classics, mainly Greek and other European influences but at the same time, we’ve localized the taste to create a new flavor. One can call it ‘fusion’, but we feel that ‘EurAsian’ highlights what we represent—an amalgamation of influences that have strong ties with the Philippine food culture.”
Akrotiri’s Menu offers a wide range of dishes with delightfully unique flavors. Italian Chef Luca Maffei co-conceptualized the menu that brought the blissful flavors of Asia and Euro-Greek cultures to our local cuisine. There is also a specialty menu with dishes that center on a classic Greek heritage of Mediterranean triad themes that overlap with Malay, Oriental, and European influences. We were impressed to see menu items showcased in their own attractive plating. Everything looked mouthwatering and delicious.

A dining experience will not be complete without drinks. As such, guests were delighted to choose from a wide selection of wines, spirits, and beer, as well as carefully curated cocktails that collectively reflect Akrotiri’s distinct coastal blending ethos. We saw some specialty drinks that offer unique blends infused with flavors from diverse influences. Jameson Whiskey, Irish Blends, single malts, and Japanese liquor are among those that can be spotted in their bar display. But that’s not all, there are also varied cocktails for everyone to enjoy. Guests can take their pick from Manhattans and Martinis, Espresso Martini, Bloody Marys and Pimms & Lemonade, Tequila Sunrise and the mysterious Dark and Stormy. There is also a selection of Gin on display with creative combos like Rose Gin with dried chili, Gin Mare with mango & pepper and Portobello Road Gin with summer fruits.
My friends and I enjoyed Akrotiri’s VIP Blogger’s Night. We learned a few tidbits about the EurAsian concept and origins of the restaurant and joined in the fun and games. Most of all we enjoyed the food and drinks. An Akrotiri experience isn’t just about consuming food and drinks. It is a unique dining experience that allows you to experience wonderful flavors that were brought together from different cultures. Not only that the use of local ingredients gives you a taste of home while experiencing international food cultures. This makes Akrotiri a great wine and dine destination for friends, family, and co-workers.
