How would you feel if you got invited to a slime fair? For some reason young kids today love to play with slime. This is why my daughter got excited when we got our invites for the Elmer’s Grand Slime Time Fair at Eastwood Mall. As for me, I wasn’t exactly looking forward to holding slime but I am interested to learn what the fuss is all about. Plus, the event is being held within our usual Sunday route so it was convenient for us to join the event.
The Elmer’s Grand Slime Time Fair is a collaboration between National Bookstore and Elmer’s Glue. As the name suggests, the event puts slime in the lime light this season. In this event, kids and adults are taught how to make their very own slime to play with. We got to the event just in time for our 5:00 pm assignment. The stage was already set-up and there were already lots of people visiting the booths. My daughter and I registered quickly and started exploring the different types of slime featured in the fair. To join the event you need to register and get a passport that gives you rewards after collecting a certain number of stamps. You can get stamps for every slime that you create from each booth.
We got to visit five booths and examined the slime samples in each one. These include the Rainbow Slime, Galaxy Slime, Sand Slime, Frosty Slime, Unicorn Slime, and Jelly Slime. The Rainbow Slime gives the most points because you immediately get 7 points by creating one from the recipe provided by Elmer’s. It makes use of 6 Elmer’s Classic Glitter Glue in green, blue, red, yellow, purple and pink. You mix the glue with baking soda and contact lens solution for a nice looking Rainbow coloured slime. I like the Galaxy slime with its silvery grey hue blended and glittery shimmers. I realized they weren’t as gooey as I expected which made me feel better about creating slime on my own. We also liked visiting the Unicorn Slime booth with the friendly Unicorn lady manning it. Guests get rewarded with cool prizes like an LED Balloon on stick for 3 stamps, Php100 worth of Jollibee gift certificates for 5 stamps, and an Elmer’s Slime Shirt for 7 stamps. You redeem all three prizes if you get 10 stamps.
After our rounds with the booths, we made our way to our designated table in front of the stage. Blogger guests were given VIP treatment with front seats and acknowledgement from the program host. As the program started, the staff distributed aprons and materials needed for the slime making tasks. Then Mommy Niña, the designated slime expert, was called on stage to guide us through the Jelly Slime Pour process.
Here is the step by step process for creating your own Jelly Slime:
- Pour entire contents of Elmer’s Washable Color Glue in a plastic container.
- Add ½ tsp. of Baking Soda then mix well.
- Add ½ tsp. lotion then mix again. I asked what the lotion was for and they told me it was to keep moisture in.
- Add a bit of shaving foam and blend well until no white portions are visible in the mixture. If you want your slime to be fluffier then simply add more foam.
- Add contact lens solution. Keep mixing until you get the desired consistency.

I think we did pretty well in making the Jelly slime. After a bit of kneading, pulling, and stretching, our mix finally turned into the Jelly Slime we wanted to create. My daughter and I had a great time at the Elmer’s Grand Slime Time Fair in Eastwood. I may not be too keen on holding the slime but it was fun bonding with my daughter. Not just that, I also learned to appreciate the versatility of Elmer’s Glue for arts and crafts projects. You can also try making your own slime at home with your kids. It’s a great way to bond with kids because you also get to be a part of the things they are interested in.
