I know it had been days since the month of May ended. And, with the downfall of rain showers, it seems like we’re really getting closer to the rainy season. Who’s ready to say goodbye to Mr. Sun and welcome the rainy season? Oh, well, I’m not that excited though, since I’m afraid of typhoons and thunderstorms not to mention the flood that these catastrophes bring .

Before I totally bid goodbye to my birth month, let me share with you the wonderful activities and events I had last month:

1. First of May: My Birthday Celebration
   May has always been a special month for me since it’s my birth month. Here’s how I celebrated my birthday this year, click here.
2. Our Wedding Anniversary (May 8)

   
   This year for our 4th wedding anniversary my husband surprised me with a Cebu getaway. He booked for a 3 days and 2 nights of stay in Plantation Bay Resort and Spa. And then, when we were there, he decided to extend our trip for another day. Blog post soon.

3. Grand Flores De Mayo in Sta. Lucia East Mall (May 12)

   This was Keisha’s first time to join Flores De Mayo. This event was a part of her Little Stars journey.

4. Mother’s Day Celebration in Sta. Lucia East Mall (May 12)
   
   I celebrated Mother’s Day in Sta. Lucia East Mall. They had a special treat for the mothers of Little Stars contestants. We were all called up on stage where our child gave us a red rose. And as of this writing, it’s only now that I realized that I don’t have a picture on stage with Keisha  since my husband took a video instead. I guess, we should have brought 2 cameras for pictures and video souvenirs.
   

   I will forever be grateful to our Lord for giving me Keisha. She is indeed the best blessing that I receive.

5. Election Day (May 13)

   
   Yes, I exercised my right to vote. It was my 3rd time to cast my vote to be exact. I voted in Pasig where I used to reside when I was still   single. I went there alone right after I bought pneumatic switches from the mall. My 2 younger brothers followed and waited for me outside the polling precinct.

6. MTV Shoot (May 16)
   
   Yes, you read it right. I will be featured in Ronnie Liang’s music video. I’ll tell you the details soon once the video is out.
7. Little Stars Semi-Finals
   
   Here’s a preview of the semi-finals round of Little Stars. I’ll share the story with you my dear readers very soon.
8. Keisha’s School Orientation (May 25)
   
   Keisha will be Kinder 1 this school year. And, I am equally excited as she is. I hope everything will turn out well for her.

So these were my May activities. And, I love every bit of it! Thank you Lord for my glorious, fruitful and merry month of May!

As a homemaker, decorating our home is one of our tasks. A comfortable, happy and conducive place  for shelter is what we aim to provide for our children. Home decoration does not only involve grand house furniture  and fixtures, expensive artworks from local and international artists, beautifully embellished figurines  and decors,  it encompasses all, most especially the lights we use in the different areas of our home – dining room, living room, kitchen, garage, garden, bed room and study room. Finding and choosing the perfect light bulb for a specific room is not an easy job since the different areas of the house have different lighting requirements. For example, the living room requires a lighting that will give a relaxing and cozy feel since this is where families bond, share stories and spend most of their time together. The kitchen’s lighting has to be functional and flexible at the same time since food is prepared and cooked here. Previously, I posted the screening of Little Stars 2013 and, as I’ve mentioned, we were advised to wait for their call to know if Keisha passed the screening. It was April 25 when I received a call from the Ad and Promo Department of Sta. Lucia Mall and was informed with the good news that Keisha was scheduled for the elimination round on April 27.

The elimination round was subdivided into three categories:

• Introduction wearing school uniform outfit
• 3-minute talent presentation
• Question and answer portion wearing their Sunday dress

We were there early and upon seeing the other kids dressed in their school uniforms, Keisha requested to wear hers as well.

Her outfit was just self-designed and made by my mom since Keisha hasn’t been in school yet. I super like her whole ensemble, it’s so girly and cute.

Do I look nervous right from the start?

Keisha played with the other contestants before the program started. I think the young kids didn’t consider this as a contest, they think of this as a game that they have to graciously play more than anything else.

The event was held at the old building of Sta. Lucia East Mall.

The program started with the kid’s self-introduction giving the following details, complete name, age and their place of residence. There were 10 girls and 2 boys who competed for the elimination round. When it was Keisha’s turn to introduce herself, she was caught off-guard when she saw half of our relatives in the audience cheering for her. But, thank God she still managed to do it well.

The second part was the talent presentation. Since we were only advised 3 days before the event, we didn’t have the chance to change Keisha’s performance. We only improved it by adding the famous song “Gwiyomi”. Take a look at her video…

In all contests, the question and answer portion is the most-awaited and exciting part since the judges can interact with the contestant and throw any questions they find suitable for them. But, in this case, since this is a kiddie model search, the questions asked were just appropriate for the kid’s age. I couldn’t help but be proud of Keisha when I heard how smart she answered the judge’s questions and how she graciously carried herself. I would have want to scream “that’s my baby girl!”. Haha! Sorry, I’m just really so proud of her.

After tabulation, the judge announced that they will only be getting 2 boys and 2 girls from this batch. We were all nervous, we didn’t know if Keisha will make it or not. I was holding my breathe for few seconds. Good thing, I have a calm husband who always manage to uplift and pacify me in times like this.

Fortunately, thru the help of prayer, my daughter was chosen to be part of the top 2. When her name was called, I almost jumped out of happiness. It’s funny, because she really knew that she’s the winner. She even said this to her yaya “Yaya, I’m the winner! Are you happy for me?” Our relatives present there were all so happy for her, most especially my mom. Keisha’s victory is also the victory of our whole family since she’s the princess and the youngest in our clan, maternal and paternal side.

Since we had been so busy the past few weeks, we decided to bring our daughter to Fun Ranch in Frontera Verde, Ortigas, Pasig last weekend. Fun Ranch is a family entertainment complex, complete with fun rides, activity centers, restaurants and shops perfect for the whole family. I’ll make a separate blog post for the activities offered here.

This was what Keisha wore last Sunday.

When I first told Keisha that we’re going to a play place, she actually, giggled and shouted, “Yes, we’re going back to Disneyland!” Haha!

Look, how lady-like my daughter is.

To date, this has been my daughter’s favorite head band. She perfectly loves the pink and white combination of flower on top of her head. If you follow me on my Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts, you will see lots of Keisha’s pictures wearing this one.

She doesn’t wear accessories that much. I’m actually surprised when I’ve seen her wearing this Disney Princess inspired watch.

White pantyhose has been a part of Keisha’s wardrobe for the past 3 years. I just love that she looks like a doll every time she wears one. Not only that, this also serves as a protection for insect bites and just in case, she’ll accidentally fall down, her skin will not be in direct contact with the ground.

This white pair of shoes is one of her everyday staples. Every time she outgrown her white shoes, I always replace it with another one since you can easily pair it with different colors of dresses.

My birthday celebration was a blast. I didn’t have a grand party nor a birthday travel getaway. My contentment and happiness came from the presence of the people closest to my heart – my super mom and dad, brothers, aunties, cousins and my grandma.

My Birthday Cake: Banapple’s Banoffee Pie

To those who personally know me, I’m very family-oriented. I will never trade the time I spend with my family most especially when it’s my birthday to a night laughing out loud with friends or visiting a new and exciting place without them. This was mainly the reason why I never opted to travel with my husband and daughter on my natal day. I will probably consider this option when I have the means to travel with my parents and siblings. Hopefully, soon!

We had a simple dinner in my grandma’s house in Antipolo.

Dinner: Pancit Bihon and Hototay Guisado from Luyong, Crispy Pata from Barrio Fiesta,  Kare-kare : my grandma’s specialty. For dessert, we had Nestle ice cream, Banoffee Pie from Banapple and freshly picked indian mangoes from my grandma’s backyard. The pork sinigang was our lunch here at home cooked by my mother-in-law and the Pizza Hut was my treat for our mini-bus drivers.

Before heading to my grandma’s house for dinner, my husband and I together with our daughter, Keisha, went first to EDSA Shangri-la Mall to check if they have usb microphone from musicians friend since I have been so engrossed with music lately.

Here’s a collage of my photos. I can truly say that at my age, I’m one happy girl! I still call myself as such, since I know I still have a lot of things to learn and growing up to make. I’m always grateful for the exceptional support system that I have – my parents, most especially my mom who’s always there for me, my ever-supportive and loving husband, my three brothers, my understanding in-laws and my relatives. Above all, I’m thankful for the smart and charming little girl that I have.
